This ad for Streamline buttons just says "Spring", doesn't it? I wish some of these cute buttons and bright trims were still made today.

When I had my smocking and fabric shop I carried Streamline buttons. I loved them. We would smock ladybugs and finish the garments with matching ladybug buttons or christmas tree buttons with smocked C. trees.
ReplyDeleteI closed the shop in May, 1993 after 5 years. I continued to teach classes and pleat for people. Still do.

I wish I could have visited your shop Jo! I know you are a smocking whiz too and would love to see more of your creations.
DeleteHi Collette - why do they call it Streamline? Is that just the brand or do they have a specific style? Everything is so retro now - have any other companies reproduced this style? Thanks! Cynthia
ReplyDeleteHi Cynthia! Streamline is the manufacturer. It's not terribly hard to find novelty buttons these days, but some color combinations and styles are very retro. It's really the look of the embroidered ribbon and trims that is hard to find today, though some contemporary designers like Anna Maria Horner and Sue Spago produce trims that have a very vintage look.
