Ok, I'm actually not going to Miami Beach. I'm not even going to have a staycation. Actually, I'll be working! I'm going to take a short break from blogging so I can spend more time putting items (especially vintage sewing patterns) in the shops for you. I'll be back in a week or so.
In the meantime, you can enter my Spring Break giveaway for the following vintage sewing pattern:
This simple Jiffy pattern from 1980 makes a cute dress, or top and skirt separates, with a bateau neckline and a loop and button front closure. As it advertises on the envelope: no facings! no zippers! The waistline is elasticized for a comfortable fit, and you can make this in a knit or a woven fabric.
The pattern is "one size fits most," meaning that it will fit bust sizes 32 1/2" (83 cm) - 42" (107 cm), waists 25" (64 cm) - 34" (87 cm), and hips 34 1/2" (88 cm) - 44" (112 cm). The tissue has been cut to a size large, so all three sizes of small, medium, and large are available. It has only five pieces, so if you are a beginning sewist construction shouldn't be too tough. So enter the giveaway!
UPDATE: The giveaway now includes the following uncut and factory folded 1980s patterns in contemporary sizes 12-16 and 14-18 as well:
To enter, leave a comment on this post. If you wish, tell me what you would do if you had an official Spring Break, or what you plan to do if you are actually going to have Spring Break! One entry per person, everyone. (If you are not entering the contest please do not leave a comment; email me instead). International entries are welcome! Be certain to leave me some method of contacting you online; preferably by entering your email contact information when you leave the comment.
This giveaway ends on March 30th at 12 p.m. PST and the winner will be announced on March 31st. As usual, the winner will be drawn by random number generator. Good luck everyone, and see you again soon!

It is spring break here in AZ. I am taking a couple days off of work, then we will be visiting Palm Springs, CA and a side trip to LA so I can stop at Mood Designer Fabrics! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway! ♥ Tracey
I will be driving up to Asheville, NC to visit one daughter for a few days, then to Greenville, SC to visit my other daughter and the 3 grandchildren. I have a week off. Would like to catch up on some sewing.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great pattern.
Jo
Oh how much do I wish I was having a spring break?! Instead, I'm stuck in the dreary UK :-( and, like you, I'll be working working working!x
ReplyDeleteIt's Autumn/Fall in Australia right now, a wonderful relief after a very hot summer...however recently in my area it has rained and rained and rained for weeks on end...I've been dreaming about going on a vacation by the beach on the central coast of New South Wales of Australia where the sun is shining and the sky is blue.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a spring break still and money I would go to Seattle, WA. For some reason that location is calling me for a visit.
ReplyDeleteA spring break sounds positively heavily, I haven't enjoyed one of those since I was in school. If all of the pieces could fall into place and I could jaunt off on a break somewhere, I'd love dearly to continue (my life goal) of visiting each of Canada's provinces and territories. In particular I'd truly love to go to the Yukon, as I have family ties there and would love to do some genealogy work in person from local records and historical sites (plus it would be such a joy to see the northern lights in all their resplendent glory).
ReplyDeleteThank you for holding this contest, dear, it's very sweet of you to do.
Oodles of hugs & happy Monday wishes,
Jessica
what im doing for spring break is blogging staying home studying and going to indie rock shows in nyc

I really like that first dress pattern. Thanks for an opportunity to win it!
ReplyDeleteI'm a SAHM to a baby not yet in school, so Spring Break is a distant memory for me - I'd really like to take a family vacation to a national park out West.

Oh a spring break sounds so nice. If I had 1 week off, I would go spend that week in another big city, explore and eat!

ReplyDeleteWe don't have spring break here in the Philippines but we're officially beginning summer break. My family, all 16 of us, goes to the beach house of my sister. While our husbands and kids are occupied snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, and swimming, my sisters and I do crafts inside the house!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely vacation!
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at the word "vintage"...1980 was probably the year I learned sewing in Home Ec class in highschool. Guess I'm in the vintage category now...LOL!
Dh had spring break, but we only took day trips to go birding. :)
Thanks for a cute contest!
It is the second day of my spring break here in Las Vegas. I wish I had somewhere fun to go, but I'm being responsable and doing my homework. I wish I could party in college, but I'd rather have good grades. I might do some sewing if I have some time.
ReplyDeleteI have spring break starting from tomorrow, yay! :) I plan to clean the whole house, top to bottom. After that I'm just going to relax... :)
