Madison Avenue Monday: The Glitter Hours

Today's MAM is a trio of knitting patterns from Vogue Knitting, Fall-Winter 1962.

I can't imagine the skill needed to make the first sleeveless sweater with its tiers of crystal beads!  The third gorgeous sweater is made of silk and gold lamé yarns.

How do you like the hair and makeup styling in this fashion layout?

  1. Dang dernit! I always wanted my hair to do The Flip! But alas, my hair is too baby fine and limp. I'd wear that first cut in a heart beat if I had thick wavy hair!

    1. I adore that style as well! But had I been trying to achieve that style in the 60s I would have had to iron my hair on an ironing board in order to do it!

  2. I love the third hairstyle mine used to do that when I was a little girl - sadly not anymore!

  3. How beautiful! I am teaching myself to knit socks right now and wow it's hard! I will win no awards for even stitches. To make one of those sweaters, I might finish it by the time I needed to be buried in it. :) haha I so admire the people who can make wonderfully intricate items and do it with grace and patience.

    1. I think knitting is TOUGH! And socks are supposed to be very difficult anyway, what with having to turn the heel. Good luck Gabrielle! (And nice to see you back!).

  4. How dazzling beautiful! You know, I don't get in a 1960s mood (in terms of wanting to wear the styles of that era, I mean) very often, but I watched a Sofia Loren film (Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow) this morning and have been smitten with the ultra glam mid-60s look she wears in the second story of that movie (it's made up of three different stories) all day long ever since. Alas, though I might be (IMB - Italian by marriage) I don't quite have enough (aka, any) Mediterranean blood in my veins to look even a fraction as chic and beguiling in such styles as she did.

    1. Oh that's great, "Italian by Marriage"! That made me smile. And you look very chic in the vintage styles that you wear, I can definitely see you in some of the mod styles or classic sheaths of the 1960s as they would compliment your small frame. Sophia Loren is AMAZING and that is a flick I haven't seen. I will put that in my Netflix queue!
