Madison Avenue Monday, Halloween Edition: The Wrinkle Is Dead
This oldie-but-goodie Madison Avenue Monday returns to haunt us this year. Every time I see this ad for Dan River fabrics I can't help but laugh. Scary!
From McCall's Patterns Fashions, circa the mid-1960s
Yikes! That is a little frightening indeed! They'd didn't even try to go for subtly with their choice of weapon (say a small pistol or knife), instead opting for an ax that looks as though it might have come straight from the days of the French Revolution!

They certainly wanted to make a statement, didn't they? "Buy our fabrics or die!" Or something...!
DeleteThose crazy kids at Dan River! Love the dress!
ReplyDeleteMarketing should always be this creative...though perhaps not as scary! ;-)
